About the Role

\n

Our client is looking for an experienced Milling Section Manager to lead their CNC milling department. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for managing a section of 22 CNC milling machines, driving productivity, maintaining exceptional quality standards and leading a skilled team.

\n

The successful candidate will also oversee the de-burring department, ensuring efficient workflow, high standards of workmanship and effective team management.

\n

Key Responsibilities

\n
    \n
  • Manage the day-to-day operation of a 22-machine CNC milling section.
  • \n
  • Produce, modify and optimise CNC programs using offline programming software.
  • \n
  • Drive machine utilisation, efficiency and productivity across the department.
  • \n
  • Plan and coordinate workflow to ensure customer delivery dates are consistently achieved.
  • \n
  • Lead, motivate and develop the milling team, ensuring high standards of performance and accountability.
  • \n
  • Manage staffing levels and allocate work effectively across the department.
  • \n
  • Maintain excellent standards of housekeeping, cleanliness and organisation.
  • \n
  • Oversee the de-burring department, managing workflow, priorities and personnel.
  • \n
  • Work closely with Planning, Quality and Production Management to maximise output.
  • \n
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • \n
  • Ensure all Health & Safety procedures are followed.
  • \n

Essential Requirements

\n
    \n
  • Extensive experience programming and machining 3, 4 and 5-axis CNC milling machines.
  • \n
  • Strong offline CNC programming experience.
  • \n
  • Proven experience managing a CNC milling section or manufacturing team.
  • \n
  • Excellent understanding of machining strategies, tooling and cutting techniques.
  • \n
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings.
  • \n
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • \n
  • Excellent organisational and planning ability.
  • \n
  • Experience working to tight tolerances and high-quality manufacturing standards.
  • \n
  • A proactive approach with a focus on continuous improvement and efficiency.
  • \n

Preferred Experience

\n
    \n
  • Experience using OneCNC and/or Autodesk Fusion 360 for offline programming.
  • \n
  • Aerospace precision engineering experience.
  • \n
  • Lean Manufacturing and 5S knowledge.
  • \n
  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems.
  • \n
