Job Description
A well-known and long-standing food manufacturing business in Leicester is looking to appoint an Engineering Team Leader to join its site engineering team.\n
\nThe Role:\n
\nThis is a hands-on leadership position for someone who can combine technical engineering ability with strong people management. You'll take charge of an engineering shift team, keeping production equipment reliable and downtime to a minimum, while working alongside colleagues in Operations, Technical and Hygiene to maintain high standards across the site.\n
\nWhat You'll Be Doing\n
\n- Leading and organising a team of shift engineers to keep plant equipment running safely and reliably\n
\n- Overseeing planned maintenance schedules, troubleshooting faults and carrying out repairs\n
\n- Providing clear direction on shift, acting as the main point of contact for engineering matters\n
\n- Stepping in for the management as needed\n
\n- Reviewing maintenance and performance data to spot patterns, flag risks and identify areas for improvement\n
\n- Planning resource and labour allocation to keep production moving efficiently\n
\n- Upholding health, safety and food hygiene standards across all engineering work\n
\n- Getting involved in wider site projects, plant upgrades and improvement initiatives\n
\nWhat We're Looking For:\n
\n- Solid background in an engineering or maintenance role, ideally within manufacturing (Food most favourable)\n
\n- Track record of supervising, mentoring or coaching a team of engineers\n
\n- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification (Electrical preferable)\n
\n- Comfortable making quick, confident decisions when troubleshooting under pressure\n
\n- A methodical, level-headed approach with good prioritisation skills\n
\n- IT literate, with experience using CMMS/maintenance software and the Microsoft Office suite\n
