JWB Recruitment are proud to be recruiting for a Commercial Gas Engineer to work over the West Midlands.

Overview

\n

Were looking for an experienced Commercial Gas Engineer to join a growing technical team supporting a wide range of commercial clients across the West Midlands. Around 90% of the work sits within the region, with occasional national travel when required.

\n

Youll work across schools, colleges, universities, factories, office buildings, and care homes, delivering high-quality service, maintenance, and reactive breakdowns on commercial gas plant and associated equipment. The role is predominantly plant-room based, with some minor installation and remedial works as part of planned tasks.

\n

This is a stable, long-term position offering a varied workload, strong support, and a manageable call-out rota.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out PPM servicing on commercial gas appliances and plant.
  • \n
  • Attend reactive breakdowns, completing fault-finding and repairs.
  • \n
  • Work extensively in plant rooms across educational, healthcare, industrial, and commercial sites.
  • \n
  • Support minor installation works, upgrades, and remedial tasks.
  • \n
  • Complete compliance documentation, job sheets, and site reports accurately.
  • \n
  • Maintain a professional presence on client sites, ensuring safety and high standards at all times.
  • \n
  • Participate in a 1-in-9 call-out rota, with paid standby and overtime rates for call-outs.
  • \n

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Proven background as a Commercial Gas Engineer within FM, commercial, or industrial environments.
  • \n
  • Valid Commercial Gas qualifications (COCN1 / CODNCO1 or equivalent).
  • \n
  • Strong fault-finding ability and confidence working independently.
  • \n
  • Experience working in schools, colleges, universities, or care environments is beneficial but not essential.
  • \n
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • \n
  • Ability to pass DBS checks for educational and care sites.
  • \n
