Senior Development Designer
Job Description
A global leader in point-of-sale (POS) innovation is seeking an experienced Senior Development
\nDesigner to join their high-performing engineering team in the East Midlands. This is a pivotal role
\nwithin a business that partners with some of the most recognisable brands in retail, delivering
\ncomplex, high-impact display solutions across plastic fabrication, injection moulding and advanced
\nmanufacturing processes.
\nAs a Senior Development Designer, you will take ownership of the end-to-end design and
\ndevelopment of sophisticated POS display units. You will play a key role in shaping technical
\ndirection, driving engineering excellence, and ensuring the successful delivery of innovative solutions
\nfor major global retailers.
\nKey responsibilities of the Senior Development Designer will include:
\n* Leading the design and development of complex POS products from concept through to
\nproduction, utilising expertise in injection moulding, sheet metal fabrication, vacuum
\nforming and other manufacturing processes.
\n* Driving DFM strategy and overseeing overseas manufacturing development, working closely
\nwith international suppliers, production partners and cross-functional teams.
\n* Managing prototyping and production, ensuring seamless transition from prototype to mass
\nmanufacture while maintaining quality, cost and performance targets.
\n* Championing engineering best practice, conducting technical reviews, identifying
\nimprovements and ensuring robust documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
\nTo be successful in this Senior Development Designer role, you should demonstrate:
\n* Proven experience as a Product Design Engineer, Senior Product Development Engineer, or
\nMechanical Engineer within a manufacturing environment.
\n* A relevant engineering degree or equivalent technical qualification.
\n* Strong background in POS / POP design (highly desirable).
\n* Expertise in design for manufacture and assembly (DFMA).
\n* Advanced knowledge of plastic injection moulding and plastic fabrication processes.
\n* High proficiency in SolidWorks, with the ability to produce complex, production-ready
\nmodels and drawings.
\nDay-to-Day Responsibilities
\n* Collaborating with cross-functional teams including production, commercial, and overseas
\nmanufacturing partners.
\n* Leading design reviews and presenting engineering recommendations.
\n* Producing and maintaining detailed technical documentation, specifications and BOMs.
