Summary:
\n We are seeking a Geotechnical Engineer with 5 to 10 years of site experience to fulfil the role of Investigation Supervisor on a specialist project supporting dam design. The role involves overseeing sensitive drilling operations within a dam structure, requiring a high level of technical expertise and practical site management skills. The position is based in East Sussex, starting at the beginning of August, with a duration of approximately seven weeks. Due to the nature of the project involving a water scheme, candidates ideally must hold a ‘Clean Water' certification however, there may be flexibility if other certified staff are present on site. The successful candidate will ensure all ground investigation activities are conducted safely, efficiently, and in compliance with relevant standards and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage ground investigation activities on site, particularly sensitive drilling within dam structures.
  • \n
  • Coordinate and liaise with drilling contractors and site teams to ensure safe and effective operations.
  • \n
  • Monitor compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies, especially related to water schemes.
  • \n
  • Maintain accurate site records, including daily reports, risk assessments, and method statements.
  • \n
  • Ensure quality control and adherence to project specifications throughout the investigation phase.
  • \n
  • Support the project team with technical input related to geotechnical data and site conditions.
  • \n

Required Skills:

  • Minimum 5-10 years of site experience in geotechnical engineering.
  • \n
  • Proven ability to supervise ground investigation and drilling operations.
  • \n
  • Knowledge of dam design and associated geotechnical considerations.
  • \n
  • Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations on site.
  • \n
  • Experience working within water-related projects or schemes.
  • \n
  • Ability to manage and coordinate subcontractors and site teams effectively.
  • \n
  • Competent in preparing and reviewing risk assessments and method statements.
  • \n
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills.
  • \n
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • \n
  • Clean Water certification (preferred but negotiable).
  • \n
