Associate Attorney - Personal Injury
Job Description
Our Client is an established plaintiff-side personal injury firm, is seeking a litigation attorney to join our team handling a general personal injury caseload. Our practice spans motor vehicle, premises liability, trip and fall, construction and Labor Law, wrongful death, and catastrophic injury matters. This is a meaningful opportunity for an attorney who wants real responsibility on their files and the chance to develop into a seasoned litigator.
The right candidate will handle cases from intake through resolution, working alongside a collaborative team of attorneys, paralegals, and support staff who are committed to securing results for our clients.
Key Responsibilities
Handle an active caseload of plaintiff-side personal injury matters in New York state and federal courts, from case evaluation and filing through settlement
Litigate a range of case types, including motor vehicle, premises liability, trip and fall, construction and Labor Law, and other negligence matters
Handle all phases of litigation including depositions, court appearances, and motion practice
Work with retained experts and manage discovery on cases requiring expert proof
Assist the Trial Department with preparation and presentation of trials. Trial work is encouraged but not required
Participate in internal file reviews, litigation strategy meetings, and firm training.
Requirements
Active New York bar license in good standing
Minimum of 5 years of plaintiff-side personal injury litigation experience
Experience handling automobile, trip and fall, premises liability, or construction accident matters
Ability to move an active caseload forward with appropriate partner oversight
Strong written and verbal communication, negotiation, and legal research skills
Deposition and courtroom experience; trial experience a plus but not a requirement
Professional, responsive client service skills and sound judgment
Preferred Background
Experience with wrongful death and catastrophic injury claims
Demonstrated ability with complex personal injury matters involving multiple experts
Comfortable preparing witnesses and taking and defending depositions
Handled opposing complex motions and oral arguments
Experience working closely with paralegals and support staff
Familiarity with a legal case management system (SmartAdvocate or comparable) and NYSCEF
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary of $175,000 - $250,000, commensurate with experience
Origination fee of 33% for all negligence matters brought into the firm
