SUMMARY:

Responsible for assisting in maximizing sales and margin goals for our client by competitively pricing components for consumables and items within bills of materials

This includes sourcing competitively priced products that are available in time to meet production needs, reviewing new and repeat sales orders for acceptable gross margins and delivery needs, purchasing products for quick turn orders and reviewing bill of materials for any obvious part master errors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Re-quote component cost and availability from a bill of materials.

  • Key interface with Office and Production for MRO and consumable items

  • Reduce and maintain minimal amounts of excess and obsolete inventory.

  • Close interfacing with manufacturing and receiving person to keep updated on shortages and other vendor related problems related to consumables

  • Maintain files on all formal quotations from our MRO / Consumable suppliers.

  • Assist in the purchasing of product for quick turn orders.

  • Manage inventory levels of consumables.

  • Purchase and negotiate for best price of materials, equipment and supplies from vendors in effort to maintain gross profit levels.

  • Participate in suppliers' selection based on quotes and services.

  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the procurement field.

  • Make recommendations for continual improvements based on procedural and practices to reach maximum efficiency.

  • Monitor and minimize excess, past dues and material shortages.

  • Participation in cost reduction incentives; may be assigned to specific cost reduction projects.

  • Compile data in reporting format for management's review, e.g. cost liability from sales order cancellation, OTD from suppliers, etc.

  • Create new department procedures whenever required.

  • Manage assigned suppliers through continuous improvements to achieve the Company expectations of OTD, quality, customer services and cost.

  • Adhere to all department and company standards, processes, and procedures. Knowledge of ISO standards desired.

  • Monitor and review PPV behaviours and implement corrective actions.

  • Monitor and Lead improvements for KPI for the department.

  • Maintain the most updated information on the system such as Lead times, Cost, supplier information with the ERP system

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • A familiarity with component manufacturers and be able to cross-reference parts for maximum inventory control.

  • An ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the performance of duties, to include all other employees.

  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignment to completion with minimal instructions.

  • Knowledgeable with MRP, JIT, Blanket Orders and Kanban process.

  • Requires the ability to organize, prioritize and handle various assignments.

  • Ability to work well with individuals and groups both internally and externally.

  • Ability to communicate via email and phone with individuals groups both internally and externally.

  • Ability to multi-task.

  • Ability to maintain a professional rapport with a variety of customers and suppliers.

  • Clear sense of the importance of timely response and support of others.

  • Detail oriented.

  • Good decision-making skills.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • College degree preferred; five years or more related purchasing experience or training.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Able to read, write and speak English fluently.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Must have significant computer experience using Windows, Word, Excel, and use of the internet in support of job tasks.

  • Knowledge of ERP software
