Fire Alarm Lead Designer
Job Description
Primary Responsibilities
Design Fire Alarm, Mass Notification, and Security Alarm systems using AutoCAD for shop and record drawings.
Communicate with customers, the Design Manager, sales team, and project managers regarding project status.
Perform battery and voltage drop calculations for fire alarm systems.
Prepare submittal packages, including drawings, calculations, and product data sheets for permits.
Review plans, specifications, and bid documents to support sales efforts.
Participate in weekly design meetings and project kick-off meetings.
Assist entry- and mid-level designers when requested.
Stay current with industry standards, materials, and installation techniques.
Participate in industry organizations related to alarm system design and code requirements.
Prepare Operations & Maintenance (O&M) packages for completed projects.
Create and submit RFIs for assigned projects.
Perform site surveys when needed.
Coordinate permit submissions with the Permit Coordinator and local authorities.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
5+ years of experience as a Fire Alarm Designer.
NICET Fire Alarm Systems Level III certification or higher.
Delaware Fire Alarm License preferred.
Proficient in AutoCAD.
VESDA design experience preferred.
Ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, and Word).
Strong communication and multitasking skills.
Valid driver's license.
Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening and background checks.
