Senior AV Field Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Field Engineer specializing in audiovisual (AV) systems installation, commissioning, configuration, and troubleshooting. This role is responsible for testing, documenting, and optimizing AV and networked systems while collaborating closely with software developers, project managers, and technical teams. Ongoing training and professional development are provided. Regular travel to project sites is required.
Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop DSP programming files based on project scope and system functional drawings using industry-standard platforms such as Biamp, Q-SYS, BSS, and ClearOne.
Configure audio processing, including compressors, limiters, gates, equalization, auto mixers, gain control, and acoustic echo cancellation (AEC).
Modify graphical user interfaces (GUIs) by updating text, images, layouts, and button alignment.
Update system communication settings, including IP addresses, ports, baud rates, and network parameters, using platforms such as Crestron, Extron, AMX, and Biamp.
Create technical documentation, user guides, and troubleshooting documentation for internal teams and end users.
Perform firmware and software updates for audio, video, conferencing, and networked AV devices.
Document device information, including serial numbers, MAC addresses, IP addresses, VLANs, and port assignments.
Configure and troubleshoot small business and enterprise networking equipment using web interfaces and terminal applications.
Create isolated LANs and WLANs to support AV system communication.
Load, configure, test, and troubleshoot integrated AV systems.
Conduct software simulation, testing, and quality assurance both in-house and on-site.
Prepare programming punch lists identifying required software modifications and issues.
Configure and optimize system performance, including audio tuning and DSP optimization.
Complete detailed testing, commissioning, and acceptance documentation.
Perform comprehensive system validation and failure testing to ensure quality standards.
Collaborate with engineering, software development, project management, installation, and support teams to resolve technical issues.
Maintain system backups, configurations, logs, and documentation in centralized repositories.
Assist with customer training on installed AV systems.
Reverse-engineer existing AV systems to support software redevelopment and upgrades.
Update and maintain system flow diagrams and technical documentation.
CTS certification.
Minimum of 5 years of experience reading and interpreting audiovisual engineering drawings.
Strong understanding of networking principles, standards, and data management.
Experience with AV software platforms such as Poly, Crestron, Biamp, AMX, and Q-SYS.
CCNA certification, actively pursuing CCNA, or willingness to obtain certification within one year.
Experience configuring Microsoft Teams Rooms and Zoom Rooms.
Proficiency with Microsoft OneNote, Excel, Word, Outlook, and SharePoint.
Crestron Level 2 Programming certification (or higher).
Q-SYS Audio 201 and Q-SYS Control 201 certifications.
Strong understanding of AV system architecture, commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimization.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Proven problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively with technical teams and stakeholders.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Valid driver's license and willingness to travel, including occasional nights and weekends.
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
