Construction Estimator

We are seeking a detail oriented Construction Estimator to support commercial construction projects by preparing accurate cost estimates, developing competitive bids, and managing project budgets. The ideal candidate will have strong experience reviewing construction drawings, estimating material and labor costs, coordinating with subcontractors, and supporting the bidding process. Experience with commercial construction is required, while government contracting experience is highly preferred.

Key ResponsibilitiesEstimating & Preconstruction

• Review blueprints, specifications, and construction documents to determine project scope.

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial construction projects.

• Develop accurate material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor pricing.

• Analyze project risks and identify cost saving opportunities.

• Prepare bid proposals and supporting documentation.

• Review and approve bid packages before submission.

Bid Management

• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.

• Negotiate pricing and scope with subcontractors and vendors.

• Coordinate with ownership and project managers throughout the bidding process.

• Support project handoffs from estimating to operations.

Project Planning

• Perform site visits to verify existing conditions and project requirements.

• Review project schedules and construction sequencing.

• Prepare cost spreadsheets, reports, and budget tracking documents.

• Assist with value engineering and scope clarification.

Contract & Cost Control

• Review contracts for scope accuracy and risk exposure.

• Monitor project budgets and estimate accuracy.

• Maintain historical pricing databases and estimating records.

• Ensure estimates align with current market pricing and project requirements.

Required Qualifications

• Experience as a Construction Estimator on commercial construction projects.

• Experience preparing accurate material and labor estimates.

• Strong blueprint and construction drawing interpretation skills.

• Experience using construction estimating software.

• Knowledge of commercial construction methods and materials.

• Experience obtaining and evaluating subcontractor quotes.

• Strong understanding of construction contracts and budgeting.

• Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.

• Strong communication and negotiation abilities.

• Ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience estimating government contracting projects.

• Previous commercial construction field experience.

• Knowledge of cost control and value engineering.

• Experience supporting project managers during bid and preconstruction phases.

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: $45,000 to $65,000 annually

• Weekly Pay
