Midland Lead, the only UK lead manufacturer with an EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) for our lead sheet, which is made from 100% recycled lead is seeking a Maintenance Technician Mechanical Focus to support the safe, reliable and efficient operation of Midland Lead's plant, machinery and site equipment.\n
\n We are a proactive member of the UK manufacturing industry, partnering withMake UKand supporting other local manufacturers via theEast Midlands Manufacturing Network. Its not just the UK though we enjoy working withinternationalcustomers all over the world forconstruction,radiation protectionandballastapplications.\n
\n This role requires flexibility to work a Monday - Friday rotating shift pattern, including 06.00 14.30, 09.00 17.30, 14.00 22.30 and occasional weekend working (shifts to support business needs and provide cover during site shutdown periods).\n

\n As the Maintenance Technician Mechanical Focus at Midland Lead you will:\n

- \n
- Carry out planned preventative mechanical and electrical maintenance to improve machinery reliability and reduce repeat breakdowns. \n
- Take a curious approach to recurring issues faults, looking beyond the immediate repair to understand root causes and prevent repeat breakdowns. \n
- Support improvements to schedules, procedures and records. \n
- Provide practical input into equipment upgrades, repairs and site improvement projects. \n
- Work collaboratively with production colleagues, operators and managers to understand priorities, share knowledge and keep equipment running safely and reliably. \n
- Communicate openly and honestly about issues, risks, progress and realistic timescales, raising concerns early so they can be dealt with properly. \n
- Diagnose and resolve breakdowns across plant, machinery and site equipment. \n
- Respond quickly and safely to urgent issues, prioritising work to minimise production downtime by resolving mechanical and electrical problems. \n
- Work on traditional plant machinery and mechanical systems, including gears, motors, bearings, chains, hydraulics, pneumatics and associated equipment. \n
- Support site close-down and security responsibilities when required, helping ensure the site is left safe and secure at the end of the day. \n

- \n
- Significant and demonstrable maintenance experience in manufacturing, heavy engineering, metal processing or a similar plant environment. \n
- Confident diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults on plant machinery and site equipment. \n
- Experience with gears, motors, bearings, chains, hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical fitting and practical repairs. \n
- Able to carry out reactive maintenance, planned preventative maintenance and practical repair work. \n
- Willing and able to support basic electrical activities where appropriate as part of a small, multi-skilled engineering team. \n
- Able to prioritise urgent work, communicate clearly with operators and managers, and plan activity around production needs. \n
- Strong safety awareness and willingness to support site close-down/security responsibilities. \n
