Principal EC&I Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Principal Engineer to join a major UK nuclear engineering programme. This is an excellent opportunity for a Chartered Engineer with a strong technical background and proven leadership experience to support the delivery of complex engineering projects within a highly regulated environment.

\n

As a Principal Engineer, you will provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary teams, ensuring engineering outputs are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. You will play a key role in stakeholder engagement, technical assurance, team development, and the successful delivery of project objectives.

\n

Key Responsibilities

\n
    \n
  • Lead and manage multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • \n
  • Supervise engineers and technical specialists.
  • \n
  • Ensure engineering deliverables are completed to agreed scope, quality, schedule and budget.
  • \n
  • Provide technical leadership and governance across engineering activities.
  • \n
  • Review, verify and approve calculations, analyses, technical reports, specifications and method statements.
  • \n
  • Manage customer relationships and support resolution of technical and delivery issues.
  • \n
  • Ensure engineering activities comply with applicable procedures, standards and codes.
  • \n
  • Support resource planning and capability development.
  • \n
  • Drive engineering best practice and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • \n
  • Support business development activities, proposals and tender reviews.
  • \n
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure adherence to Health & Safety requirements.
  • \n

Essential Requirements

\n
    \n
  • Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • \n
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.
  • \n
  • Significant engineering experience within complex project environments.
  • \n
  • Proven experience leading engineering teams and delivering technical work packages.
  • \n
  • Strong understanding of engineering governance, assurance and quality processes.
  • \n
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • \n
  • Ability to work independently and provide expert technical guidance.
  • \n
\n

Desirable Experience

\n
    \n
  • Nuclear, defence or other highly regulated industry experience.
  • \n
  • Experience across full project lifecycles from concept through EPC delivery.
  • \n
  • Membership of a recognised engineering institution.
  • \n
  • Experience supporting bids, tenders and business-winning activities.
  • \n
\n

Candidates must be eligible to obtain BPSS clearance.
