Job Description
This opportunity offers a travel retail pharmacist role serving a vibrant community pharmacy inside a grocery store. The position supports a primary location in Alamogordo, New Mexico, with occasional shift coverage at a secondary retail pharmacy nearby. The role is ideal for pharmacists skilled in medication dispensing and patient counseling, and comfortable supervising pharmacy technicians in a fast-paced retail setting.
Location:
- Alamogordo, New Mexico, with occasional shifts at a nearby secondary retail site
Schedule:
- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
- Wednesday, Friday: 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
- Primary location closed weekends and six major holidays; occasional weekend work may be required at secondary location
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately prepare, review, and dispense medication orders in compliance with protocols
- Maintain and update patient medication profiles
- Supervise and direct pharmacy technician staff, verifying daily activities
- Participate in medical emergency responses within the pharmacy team
- Conduct medication storage inspections and manage outdated inventory
- Provide orientation and training for new team members
- Adhere strictly to infection control procedures
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Active New Mexico Pharmacist License or willing to obtain prior to start
- Minimum one year of registered pharmacist experience preferred
- APhA Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery Certification required or willing to obtain within 30 days
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or willing to obtain within 30 days
- Strong skills in patient counseling and supervising pharmacy technicians
- Flexibility to cover shifts at multiple retail locations, including occasional weekends
- Adaptability to work in a community grocery store pharmacy environment
- Willingness to travel and commit to a 13-week or longer contract; shorter contracts considered
