Job Opportunity: Academic OB/GYN

Our organization is currently looking for an Academic OB/GYN to join the Division of General Obstetrics and Gynecology. The academic rank and salary for this position will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide instruction and oversight to resident physicians and medical students in both inpatient and outpatient environments.
• Engage in specialized clinic services related to vulvar vaginal diseases, pediatric adolescent gynecology, or pelvic pain, if applicable.
• Participate in clinical research initiatives within obstetrics and gynecology.
• Work at the Medical Center on the University Campus, managing the obstetric unit and supervising the benign gynecology team and resident continuity clinic.
• Deliver outpatient care and fulfill in-house and backup call duties during nights and weekends.
• Conduct rounds for antepartum and postpartum patients, as well as gynecologic patients.
• Provide consultations for obstetric and gynecologic cases to inpatient and emergency departments.
• Collaborate with family practice obstetric providers and advanced practice providers.
• Engage in quality and safety initiatives and committees related to obstetrics and gynecology.

Qualifications

• A medical degree (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) is required.
• Completion of an ACGME-accredited residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology is mandatory.
• Candidates should be ABOG board eligible or certified.
• Eligibility for licensure by the Iowa Board of Medicine is required, with actual licensure needed before starting employment.
• Strong clinical and surgical skills, along with excellent patient management abilities, are essential.
• Effective oral and written communication skills are necessary.
• Demonstrated teaching capabilities and a commitment to fostering a collaborative team culture are important.

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology boasts distinguished faculty known for their clinical, research, and teaching excellence.
