An experienced Registered Nurse is needed to provide dedicated, 1:1 care for a preschool student with complex medical needs. This contract, part-time role aligns perfectly for nurses seeking afternoon hours and the reward of helping one child thrive at school and home.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the state of Illinois
- Demonstrated experience in G-tube, tracheostomy, and ventilator care
- Prior critical care nursing experience strongly preferred
- School nursing or pediatric nursing background highly valued
- Must be able to reliably arrive at the student’s home in Wheaton, IL, each scheduled shift
- Commitment to meet outlined schedule: August 18, 2026 – May 28, 2027 (Tuesday–Friday, 12:30 PM–4:00 PM)
- All required certifications and an updated resume must be included with your application
- LPN licensure will not be considered for this role
Responsibilities:
- Meet the student at home, safely accompany them on the school bus, and monitor medical needs during transit
- Provide consistent care and support while at the school each afternoon
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff to ensure a safe, inclusive learning environment
- Administer, document, and monitor medical treatments in accordance with physician orders
- Communicate health updates to parents/guardians and the school team as needed
- Ensure specialized equipment is properly used and maintained throughout the day
