Psychiatry - Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program Per Diem - Physician - Syracuse, NY

Job Opportunity: Psychiatrist (Board Certified or Board Eligible)

Our organization is in search of a committed and empathetic psychiatrist to join our Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP) team on a per diem basis. This vital position involves the assessment, diagnosis, and immediate treatment of patients facing behavioral health crises.

The psychiatrist within the CPEP is a key member of a multidisciplinary team, dedicated to providing timely and effective interventions to stabilize patients.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform psychiatric evaluations for individuals in crisis situations.
• Create and execute personalized treatment plans, which include managing psychotropic medications.
• Work collaboratively with emergency department personnel, such as physicians, nurses, social workers, and security staff, to ensure coordinated and compassionate care.
• Advise on and facilitate suitable dispositions, including inpatient admissions, outpatient referrals, or community support services.

Qualifications

• Possession of an active medical license in New York State or eligibility for one.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry.
• Excellent diagnostic and decision-making abilities in fast-paced, high-acuity settings.
• Previous experience in emergency psychiatry or similar behavioral health environments is preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

• Compensation of approximately $200 per hour, with additional differentials for evening and weekend shifts.
• The stated salary represents the initial range of total compensation and does not encompass productivity bonuses, quality and performance incentives, extra shift bonuses, or other cash compensation relevant to the role. Additionally, providers generally receive a CME allowance and other benefits from their medical group employer. Please be aware that this salary range is in accordance with state regulations and may vary based on the aforementioned factors.
