Job Description
Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as an Occupational Therapist serving K-12 students with diverse abilities in the vibrant community near Dowagiac, MI. This school-based role starts August 24, 2026, and offers steady, full-time hours—36.25 per week, from 8:00 AM to 3:45 PM daily. Assignments are finalized each year, and travel throughout Berrien County will be required as many professionals serve multiple school locations. You’ll work with a caseload of approximately 55-65 students, providing services for those with autism, cognitive and emotional impairments, learning disabilities, and other health impairments.
What we’re seeking:
- Valid Occupational Therapist licensure for Michigan
- School-based OT experience preferred (K-12)
- Knowledge of special education processes, IEP implementation, and progress monitoring
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with teachers, staff, and families
- Compassion and adaptability in supporting diverse student needs
- Willingness to travel between schools within Berrien County
- Commitment to professional conduct, confidentiality, and fostering inclusive environments
Key responsibilities:
- Assess and deliver occupational therapy services for students with various disabilities
- Participate actively in multidisciplinary teams and the development of IEPs
- Maintain detailed documentation of interventions, progress, and regulatory compliance
- Consult with educators and caregivers to optimize students’ performance and independence
- Adapt therapeutic strategies and tools to support learning in both individual and group formats
- Manage and prioritize a dynamic caseload, adjusting as assigned throughout the year
