Role Summary:

As a Food and Food Service Delivery Driver, you play an essential part in maintaining the nation's food supply chain. Our drivers ensure that products reach customers on time and in excellent condition, serving as the face of our organization and fostering strong relationships with clients.

The CDL-A Driver is tasked with operating a tractor-trailer or straight truck for local, intrastate, and interstate routes, including over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and drop-and-hook deliveries. This role involves delivering and unloading food and related products safely and promptly, adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. You will engage professionally with customers, vendors, and colleagues, ensuring that inquiries are addressed accurately and swiftly. Team collaboration within the department and organization is essential, and you will perform various duties as needed to support our mission.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct all necessary safety checks (e.g., pre/post trip) and inspect the tractor/truck and trailer in compliance with DOT regulations; ensure they meet company safety standards and report any issues or required repairs.
  • Adhere to all DOT regulations and company driving policies, reporting any safety hazards immediately.
  • Verify that the trailer is loaded and secured correctly; perform item counts and check customer invoices for accuracy. Complete all required paperwork related to freight clearly and accurately.
  • Ensure that the tractor, trailer, and freight are secured at all times. Handle damaged goods and customer returns appropriately, completing necessary paperwork at the end of your shift. Remove all equipment and trash from trailers as needed.
  • Maintain daily records and comply with hours of service regulations, following DOT, state, and company policies.
  • Uphold safety standards and follow guidelines for freight handling throughout the delivery process.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education:
• High School Diploma or GED, or
• Equivalent Experience

Experience:
• 6 months to 1 year of commercial driving experience
• Experience in the foodservice distribution sector
• Familiarity with onboard computer and electronic log systems (e.g., PeopleNet)
• Experience with handheld point-of-delivery scanning systems (e.g., POD)
• Background in customer service-related roles
