Job Description

Role Summary

Drivers are responsible for the safe transportation of hazardous and non-hazardous waste, they will pick up waste at a customers’ location and deliver it to recycling/disposal facilities, while also being responsible for the accurate completion of the paperwork required for each pickup/delivery, and they are required to keep company vehicles maintained in accordance with company policy.

Job Duties

  • Must drive company vehicles in accordance with DOT regulations and company policies.
    \n • Maintain records of routes and times in accordance with state and federal law, as well as company policy.
    \n • Must accurately complete all documents required for operation of company vehicles.
    \n • Transport waste/supplies safely to their destination locations on time. As part of this duty, verify shipping loads against the paperwork and obtain signatures for materials when they are delivered/picked up.
    \n • Responsible for accurate completion of all documents required for waste pickup including Job Orders, manifests, and Bills of Lading.
    \n • Responsible for speaking knowledgeably and courteously to VLS customers and recycling/disposal facility staff.
    \n • Responsible for keeping company vehicles clean.
    \n • Daily inspection and maintenance of the truck and all related equipment, putting in repair requests as necessary to maintain safe operation.
    \n • Operate warehouse equipment, including vehicles, in a way that facilitates the loading and unloading of the truck while observing all safety regulations and manufacturer’s safety instructions for that equipment.
    \n • Take on material handling duties as necessary to complete the delivery of necessary materials to destination locations, including handling materials during loading and unloading.
    \n • Relay customer feedback, including concerns, complaints, damaged deliveries, and competitive knowledge whenever it is presented.
    \n • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to drive commercial vehicles which may include: dry vans (preferred), vacuum trucks, and roll-off trailers (Required).
  • \n
  • Ability to load and unload trucks
  • \n
  • Ability to drive locally and regionally up to 750 miles with up to 3 days overnight per week to include: WA, OR, and AZ
  • \n
  • Ability to drive automatic and manual trucks with no restrictions.
  • \n
  • Open and transparent verbal communication skills.
  • \n
  • Satisfactory written communication skills.
  • \n
  • Works well independently.
  • \n
  • Ability to manage time and routes.
  • \n
  • Familiarity with GPS devices or map apps.
  • \n
  • Ability to operate warehouse equipment; including pallet jacks, hand trucks, and forklifts.
  • \n
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (Class A).
  • \n
  • Hazardous Materials and Tanker endorsement.
  • \n
  • Minimum two years of commercial driving experience.
