Mechanical Design Engineer

Key responsibilities:

• Creating and revising detailed engineering drawings and CAD models.

• Developing and presenting design review documentation.

• Supporting prototype builds, including procurement of prototype components.

• Performing system integration, troubleshooting, and prototype testing.

• Transferring designs to manufacturing and supporting production release activities.

• Generating and maintaining technical documentation, including assembly instructions, test procedures, installation guides, and service manual

• Supporting an existing prototype system by updating, correcting, and finalizing engineering documentation and CAD models.

• Revising existing drawings and models to prepare them for manufacturing release and quoting activities.

• Development of electrical and system enclosures, vacuum system components, gas delivery systems, and pneumatic assemblies.

Qualifications:

• A Mechanical Engineering degree is preferred but not required.

• 10+ years of relevant design experience is ideal, but candidates with fewer years may still be considered if they have the right skills.

• Extensive experience using Autodesk Inventor to create, modify, and maintain 3D models, component drawings, and assembly drawings.

• A strong background in mechanical design, material selection, and component specification is required to optimize product cost, manufacturability, reliability, and performance.

• Experience with Autodesk Vault for document management and proficiency in the Autodesk Inventor Tube & Pipe, Cable & Harness, and Sheet Metal environments is highly desirable.

• Experience with Enovia PLM, a solid understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles, and familiarity with applicable ASTM standards.

• Strong communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills

• Extensive CAD design and drawing creation experience.

• Understanding of assembly drawings and manufacturing processes.

• Ability to identify and implement minor design improvements to improve manufacturability.

• Willingness to work closely with a small engineering team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Autodesk Vault experience.

• ENOVIA experience.

• Cable and harness design experience.

• Tube and pipe design experience.

• Sheet metal design experience.

• Examples of design work or drawings created by the candidate

• Experience working on product documentation, drawing revisions, and production support activities.
