Mechanical Design Engineer
Job Description
Key responsibilities:
Creating and revising detailed engineering drawings and CAD models.
Developing and presenting design review documentation.
Supporting prototype builds, including procurement of prototype components.
Performing system integration, troubleshooting, and prototype testing.
Transferring designs to manufacturing and supporting production release activities.
Generating and maintaining technical documentation, including assembly instructions, test procedures, installation guides, and service manual
Supporting an existing prototype system by updating, correcting, and finalizing engineering documentation and CAD models.
Revising existing drawings and models to prepare them for manufacturing release and quoting activities.
Development of electrical and system enclosures, vacuum system components, gas delivery systems, and pneumatic assemblies.
Qualifications:
A Mechanical Engineering degree is preferred but not required.
10+ years of relevant design experience is ideal, but candidates with fewer years may still be considered if they have the right skills.
Extensive experience using Autodesk Inventor to create, modify, and maintain 3D models, component drawings, and assembly drawings.
A strong background in mechanical design, material selection, and component specification is required to optimize product cost, manufacturability, reliability, and performance.
Experience with Autodesk Vault for document management and proficiency in the Autodesk Inventor Tube & Pipe, Cable & Harness, and Sheet Metal environments is highly desirable.
Experience with Enovia PLM, a solid understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles, and familiarity with applicable ASTM standards.
Strong communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills
Extensive CAD design and drawing creation experience.
Understanding of assembly drawings and manufacturing processes.
Ability to identify and implement minor design improvements to improve manufacturability.
Willingness to work closely with a small engineering team.
