OB/GYN Generalist Surgeon - Atlantic Health Morristown Medical Center
Job Description
We are looking for a full-time, highly skilled Gynecologic Surgeon to join our organization in Morristown, NJ. This position requires a professional with proven expertise in vaginal surgical techniques, focusing on the surgical and clinical management of benign gynecologic conditions. The ideal candidate will prioritize excellent patient outcomes, embrace surgical innovation, contribute to OB/GYN resident education, and foster collaborative care. All surgical procedures will take place at our Morristown Medical Center.
Key Responsibilities- Engage in outpatient Obstetric/GYN clinic activities as part of patient care and educational initiatives.
- Provide teaching and mentorship to residents, fellows, and advanced practice providers.
- Participate in quality improvement projects and ensure compliance with evidence-based guidelines.
- Perform a significant number of vaginal surgical procedures, including vaginal hysterectomies.
- Assess and manage patients with gynecologic conditions needing surgical intervention, collaborating with subspecialists on cases such as abnormal uterine bleeding and benign pelvic masses.
- Educate OB/GYN residents and medical students about surgical options, associated risks, benefits, and anticipated outcomes.
- Deliver comprehensive preoperative and postoperative care.
- Conduct and interpret diagnostic evaluations, including pelvic examinations, imaging, and office-based procedures.
- Utilize minimally invasive techniques when suitable, favoring vaginal approaches over abdominal or laparoscopic methods when clinically appropriate.
- Work alongside urogynecology, urology, colorectal surgery, and primary care teams to ensure coordinated multidisciplinary care.
- A blend of outpatient clinic responsibilities and operating room duties.
- Access to state-of-the-art surgical facilities and dedicated support staff.
- Daytime coverage for outpatient clinics in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
- Daytime consultations for gynecologic patients in the Medical Floor/ER.
- Participate in the GYN/ER coverage call pool, approximately 1-2 times per month.
- Board Certified/Board Eligible by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
- Proven proficiency in vaginal surgical techniques (case logs will be required).
- Advanced skills in complex vaginal and reconstructive procedures are preferred.
- Experience in teaching or academic medicine is preferred.
- Interest in clinical research or improving surgical outcomes is preferred.
- Licensed or eligible for licensure in New Jersey.
