Job Description
Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity to make a meaningful impact as a Special Education Teacher working with elementary students (K-5th grade) in a supportive educational setting near Chatham, VA. You'll have a chance to work with a range of caseloads in either Adaptive or General Curriculum, according to your expertise and certification.
Your commitment will begin as soon as possible and extend through May 21, 2027, providing valuable consistency and support for your students and colleagues. This role offers 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, ensuring you can establish positive routines and meaningful connections with your learners.
Requirements for Success:
- Hold current Virginia certification as a Special Education Teacher (Adaptive or General Curriculum)
- Experience working with elementary-aged children, designing and implementing IEPs
- Ability to adapt instructional strategies to meet varying student needs
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with families, colleagues, and support staff
- Ability to foster a nurturing, inclusive classroom environment
What You’ll Do:
- Provide individualized and small-group instruction tailored to diverse learning needs
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Regularly assess student progress and make data-driven instructional adjustments
- Partner closely with general education teachers and support personnel
- Engage with families to promote student growth and achievement
- Maintain accurate, detailed documentation in compliance with regulations
