Position Overview:
The Registered Nurse (RN) serves as a vital healthcare professional responsible for overseeing and directing nursing care within the cath lab and interventional radiology departments. A proactive and enthusiastic approach is essential to contribute to the success of our organization.
Key Responsibilities and Expectations:Below are the primary duties and performance metrics associated with this role:
1. Assessment (20%)- Conducts thorough nursing assessments as a foundational database.
- Completes evaluations for new admissions or transfers upon arrival to the PACU.
- Accurately documents patient assessments and provides timely ongoing reassessments with relevant observations.
- Develops and coordinates a care plan based on initial assessment data, patient diagnosis, and physician directives.
- Identifies patient care needs and formulates nursing interventions to achieve desired outcomes.
- Collaborates with healthcare team members to ensure a cohesive daily care plan for assigned patients.
- Delivers and documents nursing interventions based on assessed patient needs and care plans.
- Coordinates and communicates patient care with other disciplines effectively.
- Provides patient education and discharge planning accurately on the PACU flow sheet.
- Recognizes changes in patient conditions and takes appropriate nursing actions.
- Follows medication administration and documentation policies.
- Performs blood draws for lab specimens, including blood cultures.
- Notifies anesthesia and surgical physicians of significant patient condition changes.
- Assists physicians with procedures and examinations related to patient care.
- Documents the effectiveness of nursing care and adjusts care plans as patients progress toward expected outcomes.
- Evaluates and records the effectiveness of patient education and understanding.
- Modifies care plans as necessary based on evaluations.
- Assesses pain management effectiveness and takes appropriate nursing actions.
- Engages in ongoing learning to enhance professional competence through committee participation, staff meetings, and mandatory training.
- Arrives on time for scheduled shifts and begins duties promptly.
- Acts as a resource for colleagues, patients, families, and medical staff.
- Identifies issues, gathers relevant data, proposes solutions, and communicates effectively to resolve problems.
- Oversees care provided by Care Partners.
- Incorporates customer service standards into patient care and work practices.
- Adheres to safety and infection control policies.
- Practices universal precautions and disposes of hazardous materials according to established guidelines.
- Maintains a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff.
- Completes all annual mandatory training requirements.
- Delivers high-quality care in a respectful and courteous manner.
- Responds promptly to patient needs and addresses concerns effectively.
- Communicates clearly and maintains patient confidentiality.
- Utilizes resources efficiently and recommends improvements to enhance service delivery.
- Participates in developing and implementing unit-based performance improvement plans.
- Collects and discusses performance improvement data.
- Engages in research activities within the nursing unit.

- Monitors patient responses during restraint periods.
- Assesses and manages pain effectively, incorporating patient beliefs into care plans.

Job Specifications:Minimum Education: Graduate from an accredited nursing program or equivalent educational background for licensing.
Minimum Experience: At least one year of medical-surgical experience is required; critical care or post-anesthesia care experience is preferred.

- May require irregular hours and managing multiple demands.

- Ability to lift and transfer patients, with a capacity to lift up to 50 pounds and pull up to 100 pounds.
- Frequent reaching, stooping, bending, and kneeling.
