Job Description
Step into a rewarding role making a difference for elementary-aged students as a contract occupational therapist for the 2026–2027 school year. Work directly in a vibrant intermediate setting, assisting grades 3–5 during the academic calendar. The schedule offers excellent flexibility: choose from two full days or more days with shorter hours each week, from 8:05 am to 2:45 pm. The assignment begins September 8, 2026, and extends through June 16, 2027.
The primary focus will be on consultation services, with some opportunities for hands-on interventions addressing fine motor skills and sensory needs. You will support a caseload of approximately 25 students, all within one school building, providing continuity and the chance to build strong relationships.
What You'll Bring:
- Valid Illinois Occupational Therapy license
- Experience in school-based occupational therapy preferred
- Familiarity with elementary-aged students, particularly in grades 3–5
- Ability to provide both consultative and direct services
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with educators and caregivers
- Proficiency in documenting progress and developing targeted intervention plans
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver consultative and direct OT services targeting fine motor and sensory skills
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff to ensure student success
- Assess and monitor student needs, adapting plans as required
- Maintain clear documentation in compliance with school standards
- Offer strategies and resources to classroom staff for improved student participation
