Job Description
Make a meaningful difference as an Autism Specialist supporting students across the Medford, Ashland, and Grants Pass areas of Southern Oregon. This full-time, onsite contract position serves K-12 students within a 35-mile radius, providing specialized expertise to educators and families. You’ll collaborate closely with school staff, consult on individualized education strategies, and offer direct assessment and support to students on the autism spectrum.
Key Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Special Education (SPED), Speech-Language Pathology (SLP), or School Psychology, plus a valid TSPC license. Board-certified SLPs are also welcome.
- At least three years of professional experience supporting students with autism in a school setting, spanning various ages and severities—including work with both high-functioning students and those with significant communication needs.
- Strong background in conducting autism-specific evaluations and assessments to determine educational impact.
- Alternatively, Board-Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) with specialized autism training and at least three years of experience in public education settings will be strongly considered.
- Current Oregon certification required.
Responsibilities:
- Provide expert consultation and direct support for students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in a range of educational environments.
- Collaborate with educators, parents, and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement IEPs and positive behavioral interventions.
- Conduct comprehensive autism assessments and share strategies to support student inclusion and success.
- Deliver professional development and training for school staff on effective autism practices.
- Advocate for students’ needs and assist with transition planning across grade levels as needed.
