  • Location: UPMC Hamot and UPMC Hamot Neurosurgery and Neurointervention
    • Addresses: 201 State Street, Erie, PA 16550 and 120 E. 2nd Street, Erie, PA 16507
  • Employment Type: Full-time
  • Case Coverage: 80-90% Spine / 10-20% Cranial
  • Visa Sponsorship: Accepts J1 Waiver and H-1B candidates for 2027 and beyond

Our organization is seeking neurosurgeons with a focus on spine surgery to address the increasing demand in the region. With a service area of nearly one million people, this role offers a substantial clinical workload, exposure to complex spine conditions, and the support of a highly regarded nonprofit healthcare network.

  • Become part of the region's leading Neurosciences Institute at a regional referral center.
  • Work alongside a well-established multidisciplinary team, which includes:
    • 6 Neurosurgeons (including a cerebrovascular/endovascular specialist)
    • Neurohospitalists, neurologists, neuroradiologists, neurointerventional neurologists, and skilled APPs
    • Support from a dedicated team of Advanced Practice Providers in various settings
  • Utilize a fully integrated Epic electronic medical record system throughout the health network.
  • Practice at a Level II Trauma Center and a Comprehensive Stroke Center.
  • Benefit from a strong primary care referral network that ensures a steady patient flow and continuity of care.

  • High-volume practice with approximately 80% spine and 20% cranial cases.
  • Diverse case mix including neurotrauma, complex spine issues, brain tumors, and cerebrovascular diseases.
  • Well-balanced schedule promoting career longevity and personal time.
  • Dedicated OR block time for efficient and predictable scheduling.
  • Collaborative environment with opportunities to participate in conferences, quality initiatives, and teaching.

Qualifications:

  • MD/DO from an accredited medical institution.
  • Completion of an accredited Neurosurgery Residency Program.
    • Fellowship training is not mandatory; however, completion of an accredited Spine Neurosurgery Fellowship is advantageous.
  • Board Eligible or Board Certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery.
  • Ability to secure an unrestricted Pennsylvania Medical License and obtain necessary credentials.
  • DEA certification required.
