Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Pharmacist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A long-term care pharmacy requires experienced pharmacists to fulfill a 9-week contract starting mid-August in the Brookfield, WI area. This opportunity offers a chance to work a second shift, 1:00 pm to 9:30 pm, with rotating weekends, providing essential pharmaceutical services in a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately accept and dispense prescription medications while ensuring legal compliance.
  • Monitor patient medication adherence and identify any patterns of overuse.
  • Maintain confidential patient records and pharmacy files with precision.
  • Provide patient counseling on medication usage, potential reactions, and answer inquiries.
  • Offer consultations on prescription and over-the-counter medications, including storage, dosage, side effects, and drug interactions.
  • Deliver patient services such as smoking cessation support, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management.
  • Educate patients on the proper use of medical devices like blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
  • Compound medications for internal and external use and prepare sterile solutions following established procedures.
  • Supervise pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks.
  • Maintain an adequate inventory of pharmaceutical and medical supplies.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians and healthcare practitioners to resolve drug-related issues.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Active Wisconsin pharmacist license is required.
  • Experience in retail pharmacy is welcomed; training will be provided as needed.
  • Strong communication and supervisory skills.
  • Commitment to patient safety and regulatory compliance.

Schedule:

  • 2nd shift: 1:00 pm – 9:30 pm
  • Rotating weekends

This contract opportunity requires pharmacists to be available every 2-3 years at this site and presents an engaging setting to apply and develop clinical and leadership skills within long-term care pharmacy services.
