Nocturnist - Physician - West Des Moines - $50,000 Sign-on Bonus
Job Description
Our organization is in search of a Board Certified/Board Eligible Internal Medicine Physician to become part of our Hospitalist team as a Nocturnist at the suburban West Des Moines Medical Center. We provide a competitive base salary along with incentives, which include a $50,000 signing bonus, coverage for malpractice insurance, and a 403B matching plan.
Position Highlights
- 7/7 work schedule (with flexible options available)
- Comfort with procedures is preferred but not mandatory
- ICU coverage with support from Pulmonary Critical Care specialists
- High-acuity ICU patients are transferred to Des Moines Medical Center
- Average of 8 admissions per 12-hour shift, with APP assistance until midnight
- Potential for telehealth services to be introduced in the future
The West Des Moines Medical Center is a Level 4 Trauma Center, licensed for 146 beds and currently staffed for 101 beds. Our 24/7 emergency department, which has 14 beds, saw over 20,000 patients last year. The facility includes an 8-bed ICU, 5 NICU beds, and 15 obstetric beds, with over 600 births and nearly 4,400 admissions recorded in the past year. We serve as a community medical center located in West Des Moines, focusing on general medical-surgical care, obstetrics, orthopedics, and bariatrics.

The Des Moines Medical Center is a Level II Trauma Center that has been dedicated to serving the community since 1893. We operate four non-profit Catholic medical centers and two specialty hospitals, totaling 875 beds.
