Utilities Project Manager

12-month contract w/ extensions

Day-to-Day:

The Contingent Project Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating all phases of assigned projects from planning through execution and closeout. This individual will manage project scope, schedules, budgets, quality, safety, contractor performance, and stakeholder communications to ensure successful project delivery.

Working under the direction of project leadership, this role will oversee project plans, resource management, risk mitigation efforts, reporting processes, and cross-functional team coordination. The Project Manager will work closely with internal departments, contractors, vendors, and external agencies while exercising independent judgment to keep projects on track and aligned with Duke Energy standards and objectives.

This role will support power generation facilities and outage-related work across multiple sites and will play a critical role in driving project execution, contractor accountability, schedule adherence, and overall project success.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead assigned projects from initiation through closeout.

• Manage project budgets, schedules, scope, risks, and deliverables.

• Coordinate activities between internal stakeholders, contractors, vendors, and external agencies.

• Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, and reporting mechanisms.

• Facilitate project meetings and stakeholder communications.

• Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.

• Monitor contractor performance, project progress, and budget adherence.

• Support project controls, resource management, and governance requirements.

• Ensure compliance with company procedures, safety standards, and quality expectations.

• Promote collaboration across project teams to achieve business objectives.

• Support outage planning, capital project execution, and operational initiatives.

Must Haves:

'05; Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related field.

'05; 5+ years of Project Management experience.

'05; Experience managing project budgets, schedules, contractors, and project risks.

'05; Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management software/tools.

'05; Utility, power generation, energy, or industrial industry experience.

'05; Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

'05; Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive projects to completion.

Preferred Qualifications:

⭐ PMP Certification.

⭐ Experience managing capital projects.

⭐ Experience supporting power plant outages and outage planning efforts.

⭐ Prior experience within utility, power generation, or energy environments.
