CFG Health Network is seeking a dedicated and experienced Psychiatrist to serve as Medical Director for the Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit at St. Michaels Medical Center, a respected community hospital in Newark, NJ. Key Responsibilities\n
    \n
  • \n

    Provide direct psychiatric care to adult inpatients, including evaluations, medication management, and treatment planning.

    • \n
  • \n

    Serve as the primary clinical leader of the inpatient psychiatric unit, overseeing all medical and clinical activities.

    • \n
  • \n

    Collaborate with the hospital administration, nursing leadership, and multidisciplinary teams to support quality improvement initiatives and ensure regulatory compliance.

  • \n

    Supervise and provide guidance to attending psychiatrists, advanced practice nurses (APNs), residents (if applicable), and clinical staff.

    • \n
  • \n

    Participate in case conferences, utilization review, and patient flow coordination.

    • \n
  • \n

    Lead performance improvement efforts and contribute to program development.

    • \n
  • \n

    Ensure timely documentation in the electronic medical record and compliance with hospital and CFG policies.

Qualifications\n
    \n
  • \n

    MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school

    • \n
  • \n

    Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry

    • \n
  • \n

    Active and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state of New Jersey

    • \n
  • \n

    Minimum 35 years of clinical experience in inpatient psychiatry preferred

    • \n
  • \n

    Prior leadership or medical director experience strongly preferred

    • \n
  • \n

    DEA license and CDS certification

    • \n
  • \n

    Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

    • \n
  • \n

    Commitment to collaborative and compassionate care
