A pharmacy opportunity is available in Washington, NC, approximately two hours east of Raleigh, offering a 13-week contract with potential to transition into a full-time role based on performance. This position requires a licensed pharmacist ready to start immediately and work a schedule of Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., with rotating weekends.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accept and dispense prescription medications accurately and efficiently.
- Monitor patient medication compliance and identify over-usage patterns.
- Ensure medication supplies comply with legal requirements.
- Verify suitability of prescribed medicines for patients.
- Maintain confidential patient records and pharmacy files with precision.
- Advise patients on medication usage, potential reactions, and answer their questions.
- Provide consultations on prescription and non-prescription drugs, including storage, dosage, side effects, and drug interactions.
- Offer patient services such as smoking cessation programs, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management.
- Educate patients on using medical devices like blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
- Compound medications for internal and external use, including preparing sterile solutions.
- Supervise pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks.
- Manage pharmaceutical and medical supply inventories.
- Identify drug-related problems and communicate effectively with physicians and healthcare providers.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams including physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and interns.
Desired Qualifications:
- Current North Carolina pharmacist license in hand.
- Retail pharmacy experience welcomed; on-the-job training available.
- Ability to perform comprehensive pharmaceutical duties (PV1 and PV2).
