Work Hours:
You can choose between 40 hours or 32 hours per week, from Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM (options for a 5-day or 4-day work week).

Location:
Our facility, specializing in Diabetes and Endocrine Care, is situated at 9 Loon Hill Rd, Suite 301, Dracut, MA 01826.

Job Summary

This position is dedicated to delivering both professional and non-professional nursing care services as per physician directives. The role encompasses various Clinical Nurse responsibilities, including assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care needs of a specific patient group, as well as executing nursing care and clinical support tasks within the defined scope of practice to achieve the patient’s care objectives.

As a professional nursing role, it may involve overseeing the work of less experienced professionals or managing specific processes and programs. The majority of the time will be spent on designing, implementing, or delivering processes, programs, and policies, utilizing specialized knowledge and skills typically gained through advanced education.

This experienced-level position requires independent work with general supervision. While the challenges encountered may be difficult, they are generally not overly complex, and the role may involve influencing others through the explanation of facts, policies, and practices.

Position Overview

This role requires the application of skills and knowledge essential for managing patient care from admission to discharge. It serves as an advocate for patients and their families, fostering a collaborative environment among all healthcare providers. Responsibilities include planning, delivering, and managing patient- and family-centered care, utilizing the nursing process while adhering to established nursing standards based on research and best practices. The aim is to provide clinical excellence that supports our patient-centered care model.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Active RN Licensure in Massachusetts.
  • At least two (2) years of clinical nursing experience.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Three (3) years of clinical nursing experience.
  • Relevant certifications specific to the department and patient care type.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct nursing activities that foster a compassionate, supportive, and therapeutic environment for patients and staff, promoting comfort and healing while preventing unnecessary suffering.
  • Respect the dignity and privacy of patients and families in all interactions, establishing and maintaining trust within the nurse-patient/family relationship.
  • Assess and identify expected patient outcomes based on diagnoses, data, and patient concerns.
  • Engage patients and families in their care by acknowledging their knowledge and cultural needs to enhance the healthcare experience.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans that consider the patient and family’s readiness and barriers to learning, providing necessary health education.
  • Utilize evidence-based interventions and treatments tailored to specific diagnoses or issues.
  • Document all aspects of care in accordance with hospital and regulatory policies, including treatments performed and patient responses.
  • Administer medications safely and assess patient responses, applying knowledge of pharmacology and care standards.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of care strategies based on patient responses and expected outcomes.
  • Coordinate comprehensive discharge plans, utilizing appropriate resources for a smooth transition for patients and families.
  • Create educational plans for patients and families, documenting according to departmental standards.
  • Participate in patient safety, quality improvement, and process enhancement activities to support better patient outcomes.
  • Provide leadership at the bedside as a delegator, collaborator, facilitator, and communicator.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with peers to foster a professional environment.
  • Collaborate with nursing colleagues and other disciplines to implement care plans through participation in reporting rounds.
  • Delegate responsibilities appropriately, considering the roles and capabilities of team members.
  • Interact courteously and respectfully with both internal and external customers, acknowledging cultural differences.
  • Engage in lifelong learning to enhance professional practice and achieve career goals.
  • Incorporate new knowledge and strategies to improve nursing care practices.
  • May assume charge nurse responsibilities in collaboration with unit leadership.
  • Mentor and precept newly hired staff and nursing students.
  • Seek advanced certification and ongoing educational opportunities.
  • Explore available technology and resources to integrate evidence-based practices into daily activities.
  • Promote unit and organizational growth through a shared governance model.
  • Attend and actively participate in staff meetings, taking responsibility for reviewing minutes if unable to attend.
  • Practice in accordance with the Massachusetts Nurse Practice Act and professional standards.
Physical Requirements:
  • Occasional lifting of 30-35 lbs and turning of patients.
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
  • Occasional twisting, bending, reaching, pushing/pulling, sitting, kneeling, and squatting.
  • Exposure to infectious diseases and potential carcinogenic chemicals.
  • Exposure to blood-borne pathogens.
  • Fine manual dexterity required for patient handling.
  • Visual and auditory acuity necessary for monitoring patient care.
Skills & Abilities:
  • Effective communication skills with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare teams.
  • Knowledge and application of the nursing process.
  • Ability to provide care for a designated patient group in accordance with unit guidelines and hospital policies.
  • Awareness of current healthcare trends, including advancements in technology and patient safety.
