Nurse Practitioner - Cardiothoracic Surgery Opportunity

Our organization is on the lookout for a dedicated Cardiac Advanced Practice Provider with a genuine interest in cardiothoracic surgery services to join our team in Boise, Idaho.

The ideal candidate will embrace a collaborative, multi-disciplinary approach to inpatient care, working closely with our Cardiothoracic Surgeons. Surgical Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) will assist in all cardiac and thoracic procedures, as well as oversee the CVICU and the step-down unit.

Our Cardiothoracic Surgery program consists of three surgeons, eight APPs, four specialized anesthesiologists for CVOR, and four perfusionists. Together, they operate on a dedicated floor featuring a 10-bed CVICU, three CVORs, and a 6-bed step-down unit. Our team is expected to conduct over 350 open-heart surgeries, more than 175 thoracic surgeries (including 80 robotic lobectomies), along with over 160 TAVRs and 75 MitraClips.

We specialize in adult cardiac surgery, aortic surgery, minimally invasive valve surgery, robotic thoracic surgery, and the Hybrid Maze procedure for treating atrial fibrillation. Our practice also involves the implantation and management of ECMO and the Impella 5.5. We actively participate in the STS Registry and consistently benchmark our performance as part of a robust quality and outcomes improvement initiative. Our achievements include a high early extubation rate, low complication and transfusion rates, and numerous regional and national awards in cardiac surgery. Schedule: The initial surgical orientation may consist of five 8-hour shifts for approximately three months, transitioning to four 10-hour shifts per week (typically from 6 AM to 4 PM).

Requirements:

• Active, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner medical license in Idaho; valid controlled substance registration with the Idaho Board of Pharmacy and DEA.
• Experience in vein harvesting is essential.
• A solid medical background with a commitment to developing a practice that supports a growing multi-specialty medical group. This role will involve obtaining Idaho medical licensure to enhance the Health System’s internal program across all communities served.
• Prior Nurse Practitioner experience in managing cardiac diseases is preferred.
