Pay Rate: $28.00 per hour
Shift: First Shift | 4x10 Schedule
Hours: 5:00 AM - 3:30 PM
About the Role
As a First Article Inspector (FAI), you'll serve as a critical quality gatekeeper, ensuring newly developed and modified production processes meet stringent aerospace and defense standards. You'll inspect a wide range of products, including Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs), cables, electronic assemblies, cabinets, and Line Replaceable Units (LRUs), verifying that every component meets exacting design, functional, and manufacturing requirements.
Your work will help ensure that high-reliability products perform safely and effectively in demanding operational environments.
What You'll DoFirst Article Inspection
Perform detailed First Article Inspections (FAI) in accordance with AS9102 and applicable industry standards
Validate manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with engineering requirements and product specifications
Verify dimensional, electrical, and functional characteristics of components and assemblies
Inspect and validate a variety of aerospace and defense products, including:

Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs)
Verify component placement
Inspect solder quality
Confirm electrical integrity

Cables and Wire Harnesses
Check continuity and insulation
Verify routing, termination, and workmanship

Electronic Assemblies and LRUs
Validate assembly accuracy
Ensure functional compliance

Cabinets and Mechanical Structures
Conduct dimensional inspections
Perform visual examinations of enclosures and structural components
Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, schematics, specifications, and work instructions
Verify products are manufactured according to documented requirements
Ensure inspection documentation is complete and accurate

Utilize precision inspection tools including:
Calipers
Micrometers
Height gauges

Perform electrical verification using:
Multimeters
Oscilloscopes
Other testing equipment
Identify and document non-conformances and discrepancies

Partner with Engineering and Production teams to support:
Corrective Action Requests (CARs)
Root Cause Analysis
Quality improvement initiatives
Participate in process audits and manufacturing documentation reviews
Verify material certifications and manufacturing records meet quality standards
Required QualificationsEducation
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Associate Degree in a technical field or military technical training preferred
Experience in quality inspection, manufacturing, or a related technical field
Aerospace or defense industry experience preferred
Experience inspecting electronic and/or mechanical assemblies

Ability to read and interpret:
Engineering drawings
Blueprints
Schematics
Technical documentation

Hands-on experience with:
Precision measurement instruments
Electrical testing equipment

Familiarity with:
AS9102 First Article Inspection requirements
Quality Management Systems (QMS)
Exceptional attention to detail
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to maintain accuracy in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Commitment to quality, compliance, and continuous improvement
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates with the following experience will stand out:
Experience inspecting Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) and complex electronic systems

Knowledge of:
IPC-A-610
J-STD-001

Experience using:
ERP systems
Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)
Background in Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) processes
Experience supporting highly regulated aerospace and defense manufacturing environments

Pay Details: $28.00 per hour
