A contract opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter for the 2026-27 school year, supporting a 5th-grade student and collaborating with educational teams. What you'll bring:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, especially within educational settings
- Ability to interpret classroom instruction, activities, and peer interactions
- Strong communication skills with both hearing and Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing individuals
- Patience, empathy, and genuine commitment to supporting student learning
- Certification/licensure as required by state guidelines
Key responsibilities:
- Provide real-time interpreting for a 5th-grade student during academic lessons and school activities
- Facilitate communication between the student, classmates, teachers, and staff
- Adapt interpreting methods to accommodate various classroom settings and student needs
- Work closely with educators and support personnel to ensure the student’s full participation
- Maintain confidentiality and respect for student information
- Participate in meetings as needed to enhance student support
