Embark on your next adventure as a Special Education Teacher in a welcoming elementary setting for the 2026-2027 academic year. This full-time contract role offers an exciting opportunity to support students in grades K-4 using a resource model, blending both direct pull-out instruction and push-in assistance within general education classrooms. You'll work closely with a manageable caseload of 8-12 students, providing both academic and social/emotional support that makes a real difference.

Qualifications and Preferred Experience:

  • Current Professional Educator License (PEL) required, or eligibility to obtain via the ISBE Educator Licensure Information System (ELIS) with a comparable out of state certification.
  • Experience teaching elementary-aged children, especially within a special education resource model.
  • Training or certification in Orton Gillingham or similar structured literacy interventions (such as SLANT, Wilson, Sonday) is highly valued.
  • Solid understanding of best practices in both academic intervention and social/emotional student development.
  • Strong collaborative skills to partner effectively with classroom teachers, families, and school personnel.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to each student’s needs.
  • Deliver instruction through a blend of pull-out and push-in strategies, supporting students’ learning goals in reading, math, and social/emotional domains.
  • Maintain thorough documentation, track student progress, and proactively communicate successes and areas of need.
  • Serve as a resource and advocate for students, partnering with general education teachers to ensure student integration and success.

This position operates on-site Monday through Friday, with a full-time 35-hour schedule and ample breaks throughout the day.
