Position Overview
\nCentral Maine Healthcare is seeking a Full-Time Vascular Surgery PA/NP to join its growing vascular surgery team serving the Central Maine region. The PA/NP will work collaboratively with vascular surgeons and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care for patients with arterial, venous, and lymphatic disorders. Responsibilities include outpatient clinic management, inpatient care, perioperative support, and first-assist duties in the operating room.

About the Community

- Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations, including medical history reviews and physical examinations. \n
- Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with supervising vascular surgeons. \n
- Order, interpret, and communicate diagnostic studies, including vascular ultrasounds, CT angiography, laboratory tests, and other relevant imaging. \n
- Manage preoperative and postoperative patient care. \n
- Perform hospital rounds and coordinate inpatient management plans. \n
- Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatment options, procedures, and postoperative care. \n
- \n
- Function as first assist during vascular surgical procedures, including open and endovascular interventions. \n
- Assist with vein harvesting, wound closure, vascular exposure, and other operative responsibilities as delegated. \n
- Participate in perioperative assessment and management of surgical patients. \n
- \n
- Perform office-based and bedside procedures within scope of practice, which may include: \n
- Wound debridement and wound care management \n
- Suture and staple removal \n
- Incision and drainage procedures \n
- Central and arterial line management \n
- Vascular access procedures \n
- Ultrasound-guided interventions as credentialed \n
- \n

- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, radiology staff, rehabilitation specialists, and primary care providers to ensure continuity of care. \n
- Coordinate referrals, consultations, and follow-up appointments. \n
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical pathway development. \n
- \n
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR). \n
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and evidence-based clinical practices. \n
- Participate in departmental meetings, continuing education, and professional development activities. \n
- \n
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program. \n
- Current certification. \n
- Active state PA/NP license or eligibility for licensure. \n
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS). \n
- Ability to obtain hospital privileges and credentialing. \n
- Previous experience in vascular surgery, cardiovascular surgery, general surgery, or related surgical specialty. \n
Central Maine Medical Center offers competitive compensation and a reasonable compensation estimate for this role is $120,000 to $144,000. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
