Machine Shop Supervisor - CNC & Manual Machining

One of our client is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented MACHINE SHOP SUPERVISOR to lead our manufacturing operations within a fast-paced, precision-driven environment. In this pivotal role, you will oversee daily machine shop activities, ensuring that production processes run smoothly, efficiently, and safely. Your leadership will drive continuous improvement initiatives, optimize manufacturing workflows, and uphold the highest standards of quality control. Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate daily machine shop operations.

  • Lead, train, and mentor machinists, setup technicians, and machine operators.

  • Perform and oversee setup of CNC mills and lathes.

  • Create, edit, and optimize CNC programs using G-code and CAM software.

  • Set up and operate manual mills, lathes, drill presses, and related equipment.

  • Review engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.

  • Ensure production schedules and delivery deadlines are met.

  • Monitor quality standards and implement corrective actions when necessary.

  • Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and equipment issues.

  • Manage tooling inventory and recommend tooling improvements.

  • Enforce safety policies and maintain a clean, organized work environment.

  • Coordinate with engineering, quality, purchasing, and production departments.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of machining experience, including CNC and manual equipment.

  • 2+ years of supervisory or leadership experience in a machine shop environment.

  • Strong knowledge of CNC programming, setup, and operation of mills and lathes.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and technical drawings.

  • Experience with precision measuring instruments and quality inspection procedures.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and team leadership abilities.

  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems is a plus.

Preferred Skills

  • CNC programming experience with Fanuc, Hurco, Mazatrol, or similar controls.

  • CAM software experience (Mastercam, Fusion 360 or equivalent).

  • Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement experience.

  • Job shop and production machining experience.

Schedule
Full-time, Monday-Friday, with occasional overtime as production demands require.
