Job Description
Position Summary
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct nursing care and support to patients in a behavioral health setting under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or licensed healthcare provider. This role is responsible for medication administration, patient monitoring, behavioral observation, treatment support, and maintaining a safe therapeutic environment for individuals receiving mental health services.
Qualifications
- Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license required
- Current CPR/BLS certification required
- Knowledge of behavioral health nursing practices, pharmacology, patient care procedures, and medical terminology
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations, patient confidentiality standards, and healthcare compliance requirements
- Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to psychiatric or behavioral emergencies
- Strong observation, documentation, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build rapport with patients while maintaining professional boundaries
- Experience administering medications and monitoring patient responses
- Physical ability to assist, reposition, or restrain patients when necessary
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in behavioral health, psychiatric nursing, substance abuse treatment, or inpatient mental health settings preferred
- Experience working with interdisciplinary treatment teams preferred
- CPI or crisis prevention/intervention training preferred
