School-Based Registered Nurse (RN) | Aurora, Illinois

Make a meaningful impact as an experienced Registered Nurse supporting a preschool student who requires specialized care. This contract, part-time opportunity offers a unique setting that combines school nursing and individual support, with a schedule that allows for an excellent work-life balance. You’ll work closely with the student and their family, providing essential care throughout the school day.

In this position, you’ll meet at the student’s home each school day at 12:30 PM, accompany them on the bus to school, remain with them on campus, and return home together at approximately 4:00 PM, Tuesday through Friday. The role carries significant responsibility, as you’ll care for a child with a G-tube, trach, and ventilator, offering both clinical excellence and compassionate support.

Desired Experience & Qualifications:

• Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license is required.
• Demonstrated experience managing G-tube, tracheostomy, and ventilator care in pediatric settings.
• Prior critical care background is highly preferred.
• Strong communication skills and comfort with both school and home environments.
• Ability to work consistently within the set part-time schedule.
• Resume and proof of licensure/certification required for consideration.
• LPNs are not eligible for this position.

Core Responsibilities:

• Provide direct, 1:1 nursing care tailored to the student’s medical needs during transportation and throughout the school day.
• Monitor and maintain necessary medical equipment, responding promptly to any issues.
• Collaborate with school staff, transportation personnel, and family to ensure seamless support.
• Maintain detailed documentation in accordance with healthcare and school policies.
