Special Education Teacher - Lawrence, KS

Qualifications and Experience:

• Active Kansas Special Education certification (SPED Cert in KS) required
• Experience working with middle school and high school students preferred
• Strong understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and differentiated instruction
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to engage with teachers, students, and families
• Enthusiasm for supporting diverse learners across various needs and abilities

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver quality special education instruction in both Life Skills (middle school) and Resource (middle/high school) settings
• Adapt and modify curriculum based on student needs and IEP goals
• Assess student progress regularly and maintain accurate records
• Partner with general education staff and related service providers for seamless inclusion
• Foster an encouraging, respectful, and structured classroom environment
• Effectively manage caseloads and meet compliance requirements

This assignment offers stability throughout the academic year (August through May), with approximately 37.5 hours of work per week.
