Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL), with proven interpreting skills
• Previous experience interpreting in an educational setting, ideally at the high school level
• Current certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (such as EIPA, RID, or state credential)
• Ability to collaborate with educators, staff, students, and families
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times
• Adaptability and patience while working with diverse student needs
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills

Key Responsibilities:

• Facilitate communication between Deaf or hard of hearing students and their peers, instructors, and school personnel
• Interpret spoken and signed communication during lessons, assemblies, meetings, and extracurricular activities
• Support students’ access to the academic curriculum, social activities, and school events
• Consult with educational teams to adapt materials or instructions as necessary
• Assist in fostering an inclusive, supportive learning atmosphere
• Maintain accurate records and document services as needed
