Position Overview

We are currently seeking an Obstetrician/Gynecologist to become part of our OB/GYN division as an OB Laborist. This role is crucial to our team, which includes 7 full-time OB/GYN physicians, 2 gynecologists, and 7 Certified Nurse Midwives. Our aim is to enhance our OB Laborist program, ensuring a balanced work/life dynamic while expanding our capacity to serve the community effectively.

As an OB Laborist, you will collaborate with our providers to ensure a seamless experience for patients and their families throughout their perinatal journey. The position will be based at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford, MA, with plans for future expansion to Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River, MA, to provide comprehensive inpatient obstetric and gynecologic care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide inpatient obstetric and gynecologic care at Level II Maternity Centers.
  • Focus solely on triage and inpatient care, with no outpatient responsibilities.
  • Fulfill a minimum of 12 to 24-hour call shifts monthly as outlined in the contract.
  • Part-time OB Laborists typically cover 24 hours weekly, while full-time Laborists cover 48 hours.

Our practice is known for its high-volume, quality-focused team approach, supported by a dedicated group of 9 physicians and 7 Certified Nurse Midwives & Nurse Practitioners. We have a strong reputation for community commitment and excellence in care.

  • State-of-the-art Family Centered Unit at St. Luke's Hospital, recognized annually for outstanding maternity care.
  • Approximately 1,800 deliveries annually.
  • Board certified or board eligible in Obstetrics & Gynecology.
  • Access to a Level II Nursery staffed by physicians from Boston Children's Hospital.
  • 24/7 Maternal Fetal Medicine consultative and support services in collaboration with Women and Infants Hospital in Providence, RI.
  • On-site Gynecologic Oncology Program and Urogynecology consultative services.
  • Opportunities to engage in scheduled OBGYN educational seminars and M&M conferences.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Competitive salary structure with base pay, productivity incentives, and quality bonuses.
