Special Education Teacher in Arlington Heights, IL

This full-time contract position for the 2026-2027 academic year offers the chance to work closely with K-4 students in both resource and general education settings, providing both academic and social/emotional development.

Key Qualifications:

• Current Professional Educator License (PEL) for Illinois, or eligibility to obtain through the ISBE Educator Licensure Information System (ELIS)
• Experience delivering special education services in schools (resource model experience strongly valued)
• Orton Gillingham or similar structured literacy training (SLANT, Wilson, Sonday) preferred
• Strong commitment to inclusion and differentiated instruction
• Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and families
• Flexibility, strong organizational skills, and initiative in supporting a diverse caseload

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for a caseload of 8-12 elementary students
• Provide direct instruction in pull-out settings and collaborate with general education teachers for push-in support
• Address both academic and social/emotional needs, incorporating evidence-based strategies
• Conduct progress monitoring, maintain accurate records, and communicate regularly with families and school staff
• Participate in team meetings, professional development, and ongoing training

You will work onsite only, with a full-time schedule of 35 hours per week across Monday to Friday, including a 30-minute lunch break and two 15-minute breaks each day. Make a meaningful difference as you support academic growth and well-being for young learners.
