Situated in El Paso, TX, our organization is proud to be associated with the 1st Armored Division at Fort Bliss. This FORSCOM installation encompasses various commands, including MEDCOM, JTF-NORTH, TRADOC, USAR, and additional elements. Fort Bliss spans approximately 1.12 million acres across Texas and New Mexico, with its Main Cantonment Area conveniently located next to El Paso. This vibrant city, nestled between the striking Franklin Mountains and the historic Rio Grande, offers the benefits of a major urban center while retaining the charm of a contemporary western town. The selected candidate will be responsible for:
- Delivering obstetric services, encompassing both medical and surgical management for prenatal and postnatal care.
- Conducting gynecological evaluations and treatments, including medical and surgical management for various female pelvic conditions.
- Performing examinations, diagnoses, and treatments for a diverse range of OB/GYN patients, from pediatric to geriatric.
- Executing advanced examinations and treatments for patients referred for consultation.
- Assessing both functional and dysfunctional issues related to the female pelvis, including masses, pain, urological concerns, abnormal bleeding, hormonal imbalances, and infections.
- Completing additional duties as assigned.
Applicants should be aware of the following employment conditions:
- Appointment may require a suitability or fitness determination based on a completed background investigation.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is mandatory.
- This role may involve specific initial background checks and periodic re-verification due to interactions with minors under 18 years old.
- Selectees may need to sign a statement consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or provide a recognized exemption.
- This position is classified as a Testing Designated Position, necessitating pre-employment screening and random drug testing.
- A pre-placement medical examination may be required.
- Immunization screening may be necessary, including Hepatitis B for roles with direct patient contact.
- Applicants may need to demonstrate proof of other immunizations based on the specific position.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association is required; advanced certifications do not replace BLS.
- Candidates must meet credentialing requirements and maintain relevant clinical privileges.
- This role may require on-call duties during irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Moderate to heavy lifting, up to 25 pounds, may be necessary.
- Tuberculosis testing may be required for this position.
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
- Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Degree: A Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent from an accredited institution in the U.S. or Canada. The degree must be recognized by the appropriate accrediting bodies at the time of attainment. For foreign medical degrees, equivalency must be established through certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination.
- Licensure: Must hold a current, unrestricted license as a Physician from a U.S. state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or a U.S. territory.
- Graduate Training: At least one year of supervised clinical experience, such as a one-year internship or the first year of a residency program in an accredited institution.
- Residency Training: Successful completion of an accredited residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology, along with equivalent experience totaling at least four years. Experience cannot substitute for the required residency training.
