Psychiatrist - General Adult + Faculty
Our organization is located in Hagerstown, MD.
Compensation Package
Base salary of $350,000
Sign-on bonus of $50,000
Relocation assistance up to $50,000
Work schedule from Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 4 PM
Combination of inpatient, outpatient, and consultative psychiatry
Allocated faculty time (0.1 FTE) dedicated to teaching
Involvement in a developing psychiatry residency program

Clinical Responsibilities
This position encompasses a diverse psychiatry practice across various care environments:
Inpatient & Acute Services
12-bed Adult Acute Psychiatry Unit (both voluntary and involuntary admissions)
6-bed Crisis Stabilization Unit for substance use withdrawal and stabilization
Consult-Liaison Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine consultations
Psychiatric emergency department consult service supported by dedicated behavioral health social workers
Outpatient Services
Behavioral Health Urgent Care
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP)
Therapy services provided by 10 full-time licensed mental health clinicians
Telehealth psychiatry options available
Patient Demographics
Provide care for adults experiencing a wide range of psychiatric disorders, including:
Major Depressive Disorder
Bipolar Disorder
Schizophrenia-spectrum disorders
Anxiety disorders
Substance Use Disorders
Functional Neurologic Disorders
Care typically involves addressing issues such as suicidal ideation, psychosis, mania, substance withdrawal, capacity evaluations, and the management of medication and psychotherapy.
Typical Clinical Volume
Inpatient: 6-12 patients per day
Consult-Liaison: 4-6 patients per day
Addiction consultations: 3-4 patients per day
Crisis Stabilization Unit: approximately 3 patients per day
Outpatient: 1-hour initial visits, 15-30 minute follow-up appointments
Academic & Faculty Responsibilities
Become part of a growing academic psychiatry department that includes:
8 psychiatrists and 2 nurse practitioners
5 psychiatry residents per class
Clinical supervision of residents and medical students
Opportunities for didactic teaching, lectures, advising, research, and participation in committees
Faculty members are allocated protected educational time (0.1 FTE) for their teaching duties.
Work Schedule & Call Duties
Monday to Friday, 8 AM - 4 PM
Weekday on-call from home (no more than once a week)
Weekend call rotation approximately every 6 weeks
Resident call coverage will expand starting Summer 2026
Strong Clinical Support System
24/7 Emergency Psychiatric Services team available for ED coverage
Case management and social work support across inpatient and consult services
Dedicated outpatient psychotherapy staff
