Cytogenetic Technologist – Charlotte, NC\n

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Cytogenetic Technologist to join a high-performing laboratory team in the Charlotte, North Carolina area. This role offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative, patient-focused environment supporting advanced genetic and chromosomal analysis.

Responsibilities:\n

\n
• Perform routine and specialized cytogenetic testing, including chromosome analysis and karyotyping
\n
• Prepare and culture specimens such as blood, bone marrow, amniotic fluid, and tissue samples
\n
• Conduct banding techniques (e.g., G-banding, FISH as applicable) for chromosomal evaluation
\n
• Analyze and interpret chromosomal abnormalities under supervision of a pathologist or lab director
\n
• Accurately document, validate, and report test results in accordance with laboratory standards
\n
• Maintain quality control and quality assurance procedures in compliance with regulatory guidelines (CAP/CLIA)
\n
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and ensure proper reagent preparation
\n
• Collaborate with laboratory staff, genetic counselors, and pathologists as needed
\n

Qualifications:\n

\n
• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Biology, or related field
\n
• ASCP certification as a Cytogenetic Technologist (CG) or eligibility required
\n
• Experience in cytogenetics or molecular cytogenetics preferred
\n
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
\n
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced laboratory setting
\n
• Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS) preferred
\n
