Job Description

I am currently working with a well-established, family-run horticulture business that is known for its quality products, reliable service and strong customer relationships. As the business continues to grow, they are looking to appoint a hands-on Operations Supervisor to support their fulfilment and stock control operations, particularly during busy seasonal peaks.This is a key role for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced, practical environment and takes pride in leading teams, improving processes and maintaining high levels of accuracy.The RoleYou will be responsible for supervising the day-to-day activities of the order fulfilment team, ensuring customer orders are picked accurately, packed efficiently and dispatched on time. You will also take ownership of stock control processes, helping to improve inventory accuracy, visibility and reporting across the business.You will act as a key operational contact for both internal teams and customers, supporting smooth communication and consistent service delivery.ResponsibilitesSupervise and support the order fulfilment team, including 4 permanent staff and agency workers during peak periodsTrain and oversee agency staff to ensure consistent standards are maintainedEnsure customer orders are picked accurately and dispatched within agreed timescalesMonitor workflow and allocate resources effectively to maintain productivity and service levelsSupport seasonal planning and labour coordination during peak demand periodsTake ownership of stock availability and inventory accuracy across the businessHelp develop and implement structured stock control processes and proceduresManage inventory reporting, stock movements and reconciliation activitiesUse Excel to improve stock visibility, accuracy and operational reportingIdentify and implement process improvements across fulfilment and inventory managementAct as the primary operational contact for key customer account BGCManage customer communication regarding stock availability and order fulfilmentSupport continuous improvement across warehousing and operational processesProduce accurate operational reports and performance dataEnsure compliance with company procedures, health and safety and quality standardsAbout YouYou will have experience working in a fast-paced operational environment and be confident leading teams while maintaining strong attention to detail around stock and inventory.Essential experience and skills:Experience in warehousing, logistics, production, horticulture or FMCG environmentsExperience supervising or leading operational teamsStrong understanding of stock control and inventory managementConfident using Microsoft Excel and working with operational dataStrong organisational and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication skills and ability to build strong working relationshipsProactive, hands-on approach with the ability to take ownership of key processesDesirable experience:Background in horticulture, fresh produce or food manufacturingExperience managing customer relationships or acting as a key operational contactExposure to process improvement or systems developmentUnderstanding of inventory reporting and stock planningNext StepsIf this sounds like you please hit apply.
