Stobart have an exciting opportunity within their retail sector for a Transport Team Manager to oversee the night operation at Bridgwater for a major customer.You will direct, coordinate and + plan activities for the operation whilst complying with legal responsibilities and meeting customer demand at all times. We are looking for someone to motivate and drive the team forward; this is the perfect opening for someone looking for a step into management.This is a fantastic opportunity to grow with Stobart within a thriving sector, providing exposure to a large operation within the Stobart networkMain Responsibilities & Objectives:To support the management of a fleet of drivers and transportstaff ensuring that they work within both legal and company compliance guidelines.To provide a store network with a first class serviceTo ensure operational targets are met on a weekly and monthly basis through effective use of the customers Integrated Transport Management SystemsTo brief / de brief drivers at the start and end of every shift communicating planned requirements providing information on performance, company news and procedures.Proactively encourage a positive and constructive relationship on site with the union and union representatives.Increase communication with storesEnsure department complies with Road Traffic ActEnsure drivers comply with health and safety regulationsProactively motivate the transport team by providing guidance and encouragementUndertake such duties as may be reasonably required for the effective operation of the function and departmentQualifications What kind of person are we looking for?Experience of working within a transport/FMCG environment.Knowledge of transport legislation.Knowledge of driver management softwaresExperience of supervising / managing a team, encouragingmotivation and driving performance.Experience of disciplinary / grievance procedures.Able to manage conflict and problem solveAbility to work on your own initiative, working to strict deadlines and customer focusedThe depot operates 24/7 therefore it is essential that you are flexible in your approach to work.Additional Information As part of our drive to make Stobart a great place to work.
