Job purpose\nThe Registered Manager is responsible for the safe, effective and compliant operation of the children's home. The postholder will provide strong leadership, ensure children receive high-quality, trauma-informed care and maintain a nurturing environment in which they can feel safe, develop and achieve positive outcomes.
\nThe Registered Manager will lead the staff team, support with the dual registration of 2 homes and ensure the home operates in accordance with its Statement of Purpose, relevant legislation, statutory guidance, safeguarding requirements and organisational policies.

- Provide clear, compassionate and accountable leadership to the home's staff team. \n
- Maintain a child-centred culture that promotes safety, stability, dignity, equality and positive relationships. \n
- Recruit, induct, supervise, develop and retain appropriately qualified and experienced employees. \n
- Establish clear responsibilities, professional boundaries and standards of conduct. \n
- Manage rotas to ensure safe staffing levels and an appropriate balance of skills and experience. \n
- Conduct regular supervision, appraisal and performance-management meetings. \n
- Promote staff wellbeing while addressing poor practice promptly and fairly. \n
- Participate in the management on-call rota and provide guidance during emergencies. \n

- Ensure each child receives care that reflects their placement plan, care plan, risk assessments and individual needs. \n
- Promote children's physical and emotional health, education, identity, relationships, independence and participation. \n
- Ensure children are consulted about their care and that their wishes, feelings and views influence decisions. \n
- Support positive, consistent and trauma-informed approaches to behaviour. \n
- Ensure children have access to appropriate healthcare, education, advocacy and specialist services. \n
- Monitor children's progress and take action when outcomes are not improving. \n
- Plan and oversee safe, well-managed admissions, transitions and endings. \n
- \n
- Act as a safeguarding lead for the home and promote a strong safeguarding culture. \n
- Ensure concerns, allegations, disclosures and significant incidents are reported and managed promptly. \n
- Maintain effective procedures for children who are missing from care, at risk of exploitation or otherwise vulnerable. \n
- Ensure risk assessments and safety plans are current, proportionate and understood by staff. \n
- Work effectively with social workers, police, safeguarding partners and other agencies. \n
- Ensure allegations concerning staff are managed transparently and referred to the relevant authorities when required. \n
- Promote safe recruitment, professional curiosity, whistleblowing and learning from incidents. \n
- \n
- Lead the home in accordance with applicable children's homes legislation, regulations and quality standards. \n
- Maintain Ofsted registration and demonstrate ongoing fitness to manage the home. \n
- Ensure practice reflects the home's Statement of Purpose, policies and procedures. \n
- Maintain accurate, confidential and timely records. \n
- Ensure required notifications are made to Ofsted and other relevant agencies. \n
- Cooperate with inspections, independent visits, audits and regulatory enquiries. \n
- Complete quality-of-care reviews and use findings to drive measurable improvement. \n
- Prepare and implement improvement plans following inspections, complaints, incidents or audits. \n
- Ensure fire safety, health and safety, medication, data protection and premises requirements are met. \n
- \n
- Manage the home's budget and resources responsibly. \n
- Ensure the building is safe, welcoming, secure and appropriately maintained. \n
- Monitor staffing costs, agency use, purchasing and other expenditure. \n
- Maintain appropriate systems for medicines, petty cash, children's money and property. \n
- Contribute to referral and matching decisions, ensuring placements are compatible with the home's capacity and the needs of existing residents. \n
- Provide regular performance and quality reports to senior management. \n

- Develop constructive relationships with children, families, placing authorities and professionals. \n
- Attend and contribute to statutory reviews, planning meetings and safeguarding meetings. \n
- Challenge decisions appropriately when they do not promote a child's welfare. \n
- Manage complaints openly, fairly and within required timescales. \n
- Represent the home professionally and promote confidence in the service. \n

- Maintain confidentiality and comply with data-protection requirements. \n
- Promote equality, diversity, inclusion and children's rights. \n
- Follow safer-working practices and maintain appropriate professional boundaries. \n
- Undertake training and continuous professional development. \n
- Carry out other reasonable duties consistent with the level and purpose of the role. \n
